Are there any issues with a Citrix installation of iMIS 15 client?

We just upgraded from 10.6 to 15.03 and need to install the iMIS client on our Citrix server. Has anyone successfully done this? What is the proper method to install?

Thanks for any advice!

Citrix Install

Jean,

We have Citrix installed with the iMIS 15.0.3 client and it works fine, just install the client like you would on a desktop and you should be just fine. Make sure to set the program icon in the Citrix Application so that it opens with the correct library file. If you want te command line, I can give that to you.

Citrix Install of iMIS 15 client

Chris,

Thanks for your response! Yes please send the command line. We also did hear from ASI (days after our attempted install completely hosed the Citrix server.)

They told us the following--------------------------------------

The ASI folder and its subfolders and files must have a minimum of Read, Write, Execute and List Folders permissions for Users.

If you are running Accumail, then the Users must also have a minimum of Read, Write, Execute and List Folders permissions to the Accumail folder and its subfolders and files. You still have to be a Windows Administrator to install iMIS on the workstation or server. This is required because the installer needs to write to the registry, register dll and ocx files, etc.

Some Citrix Server installations do not have C: drives. When installing iMIS to a machine with no C:\ drive, you must map C:\ to the drive with the operating system. The Omnis portion of the installer expects C:\temp to exist.

Using the Auto Logout After feature (File > System Setup) keeps CPU Utilization at 100% when the Splash screen option is disabled. Workaround: Disable auto logout feature in iMIS.

After you complete the iMIS install, make a backup copy of your iMIS library files into a backup folder so that you will be able to "refresh" the library files as needed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This time we are setting up a VM machine to try it first before we put in on the production server.

Citrix iMIS client - no available memory error

Chris,

We've got iMIS 15.0.3 client running now on our Citrix box and I can set my own IE language settings and successfully log in. But another user can not get into iMIS without getting a "not enough memory" error on the production database, but strangely he CAN get into the test database by changing the URL on the client. Our Citrix guru has checked his profile settings and found nothing.

Do you have any clue why I have no problem on prod, and he has no problem on test, but does on prod? I believe he also sometimes gets a message about ODBC setting but I don't have that exact message wording.

Citix Memory Error

Jean,

When the error occurs, check out how many users are on compared to how many liceses you have for Cirtix. Also, since iMIS eats up a lot of memory, how much is on your Citrix server? Also, what version of Citrix and Client are you using? Are you using XenApp(PNAgent) or Program Neighborhood to connect? Try making sure all sessions on the Citrix Server are logged off and disconnected then reboot the server, see if that makes any changes. We have experienced that error here as well once before. It seems to be some type of issue with ODBC, iMIS and Citrix and the sessions it uses. This is one issue that I would also like an answer to. Have not been able to figure out the cause or the exact solve, but what I mentioned seems to work when it does happen. Let me know what happens. Thanks.

Citrix Memory Error

Chris,

This is a new Citrix box, I believe they set it up as VM, I'll get more info from them.

There were no other users on at the time, memory should be sufficient on the box, perhaps an application pool?? but then why would I get in and he get into test?

I'll get back to you with the rest of the answers.

Citrix Memory Error

Chris,

To answer some of your questions about our Citrix envrionment:

  • There are plenty of licenses.
  • 2GB RAM for Citrix server
  • Citrix version is 4.5 Enterprise
  • Citrix Client version is 10.x (PNA)

Citrix Memory Error

Jean,

Ok, try downloading the latest client, 11, then try making sure all the users are logged out and then reboot it. 2GB of RAM is not enough, as the minimum requirement for iMIS is 2GB and that is for each instance. iMIS 15 is a memory hog for some reason, so is Citrix. Try the above and let me know how it goes.

iMIS 15 client on Citrix - IE settings for language

We've got iMIS 15 client running now on our Citrix box, however when I bring up the client I get an error message saying that I need to set my default language. Problem is, I believe that the settings follow the profile - is there any way to set this up for anyone who uses iMIS on the citrix box?

IE Language Settings

Jean,

Make sure to set the default language for the server in IE. Make sure also to create a profile by logging in each user of iMIS via Citrix into Citrix. Then set the user IE settings. That should solve your issue. Let me know.
