Changing the "Home" content on iMIS Web Admin (15.1.x)

Does anyone know how to change the contents of the "Home" area on iMIS web admin?

I helped a client launch on 15.1.2 recently, and when you access iMIS web admin from our WCM server, it shows a message "This site needs some content".

I can't figure out where you would go to change this content. There doesn't appear to be any default.aspx pages, and there doesn't appear to be any web content for this page.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
James @ imason

I'm not sure what your

I'm not sure what your question is. Are you trying to create a WCM site or are you trying to change the look of the Web View?

Thanks,

Hi Andie, When you browse to

Hi Andie,

When you browse to the iMIS web view, there is a Home tab. Normally on this home tab it will show iMIS Resources (e.g. Technical support, Documentation, Users Group, etc.)

This works fine on a single-server install of iMIS 15.1.x.

However, when you install standalone WCM on a server, it doesn't show these iMIS Resources. Instead, it shows the message "This site needs some content".

My question is, how do I get rid of the message "This site needs some content" and add some content to the home page (or at the very least, show the "iMIS Resources" page).

Cheers,
James

Ok if you have installed WCM

Ok if you have installed WCM only you need to verify that your publishing service is installed on your WCM server. Then you need to create a website from your web view. If you use a template gallery website, which I recommend at this point, you will need to move the files from your application server to your WCM server. When you create the site there will be a message of which files to move after you specify the template. Publish the site, and you may want to recycle the application pool.

I have created several WCM

I have created several WCM websites, and copied over all the template files - this all works perfectly fine. There are no issues with the WCM sites I have created.

The issue with the "Home" content missing is *only* when you browse to the iMIS web admin website.

I am not able to tell where the iMIS web admin website pulls its pages from - I think it's in a compiled DLL. A regular WCM site will look on the file system for the default.aspx file that is published from iMIS (or copied manually). However, the iMIS web admin uses the URL "/iMIS15/Admin" (or "/WCM/Admin" on the WCM server). Perhaps because the WCM server uses a different URL, it's not able to find the content.

(There is no "Admin" folder inside the iMIS Net folder, which leads me to believe the contents of this page are coming from a compiled DLL).

The admin site does not have

The admin site does not have the functionality of the Web View on a standalone WCM site, unless you installed the Web View. The file you are looking for though is the default.aspx file in the root of the WCM directory. The site you are referring to should be using the empty.master for the master page.

Thanks,

Andie

Andie, The confusing part

Andie,

The confusing part was that a lot of the web admin functionality works on the standalone WCM server, but some pages don't work (understandably for security reasons). We're fine without having the full iMIS web admin functionality, but there were a couple pages that we manually copied over so they would work for end users (e.g. the pages required to view/run an IQA query).

Thanks for pointing me to the default.aspx page for the home page contents - in hindsight, I should have checked this file :)

Cheers,
James
