Customer Portfolio screen is not active when IQA returns results

I have attached a link to a brief video that demonstrates this issue.

Essentially, when using an IQA query that has been set up to return details to the Customer Portfolio, the query runs, the list is generated in an IQA window and a record is selected.  When this occurs, the results set is returned to the results  pane in the imis customer portfolio, but the cust portfolio is completely inactive.  You cannot enter a new record, select a record from the results set, no record is returned to the customer screens, etc.

You can navigate away from the customer screen but on returning the screen is still active.  The only way to return the portfolio to active (other than restarting imis) is to use the find button and find a new customer record.

Did you set alias  for iMIS ID column  to 'Key_Contact', if not customer record won't be loded correctly.

Using the out of the box query that has this already configured

Yes, the query is correctly set up using the key_contact alias.  As you will see in the video, it does return the results set to the Cust portfolio, the cust screens are just completely inactive.  It is like the query function is not returning the focus back to the cust portfolio

some questions...

What iMIS version?  Did this work at one point for this customer, or has it never worked?  Is there a hidden Xtender running in the background to intercept the nNewId event?  Was there any change to the "Manage customers" left nav link?  Do other IQA finders (say in Events) work properly?
