I am new at implementing eCM. When I go to create content I would like the editor to be working vs. text. I have a license for ektron but it doesn't seem to work. How do I get it to work?
ektron implementation
You should get a license
You should get a license free of charge from ASI. You need to email Amber Ackerman AAckerman@advsol.com to get it. Once you have the license installed you need to make sure you have it set to go to the WYSIWYG Editor instead of the Text Editor. That is in the Admin Portal Under Website click the Content Manager Navigation Link then Preferences to change the preference.
amber said I had to buy it
amber said I had to buy it from ASI. Do you know if I can get a free one for my demo site?
From my understanding you
From my understanding you get 1 license for the WYSIWYG editor when you purchase eCM. At least that's what the manual says. If you change your domain name then you would have to pay for a new license. You can request a development license for free but it can't start with www.
You can do one of two things you can set up the site under the domain http://localhost and you would not need a license. The other option (this is what I do) set up the site under a development domain such as http://dev.domain.com. I add a record to my host file located on C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Open it in notepad and add your website IP and the development domain name you want. You can set you website up under that domain while it's in development. You should be able to obtain a development licensed for free.
ektron license
I discovered that you can't buy the correct version from ektron but need to purchase thru ASI.
