Handy utility for Windows XP users: Taskbar Shuffle

If you’ve ever wished you could change the order of your application buttons in the task bar, or have ever wanted to just drag and drop your taskbar buttons around so you could have them in the order you want, this utility is for you.

Also, if you’ve ever wished you could have control over taskbar button grouping and when/if they ever collapse into one button, this utility is for you.

This utility is simple, elegent, and stays out of your way. And it’s free. Check it out:

I find having my applications appear in a predictable order in my taskbar makes me more productive ... and now I don't have to worry if I accidentally close an application, or an application crashes on me, and suddenly it's now stuck at the "end" of the taskbar. I can just start up a new instance and drag it to where I expect it or want it.

It seems trivial, but it's amazing how much of a difference it can make, depending on your work style.

Thank you

This looks really useful. I've always wanted this. Thanks for posting it.

Nice utility

Downloaded, installed. I've been waiting for a utility like this for years. (I'm one of those three-line taskbar people.)

I'm pretty sure this doesn't add any new capability in the Grouping area. It's just exposing what Windows already does. TweakUI (part of Microsoft's "XP Powertoys") offers essentially the same options for grouping. Much easier to get to, though.

I should point out that this

I should point out that this works fine on Vista as well.

New Version

Another note... a new version was released in April of this year... version 2.5

Minor fixes and enhancements, but this is a great utility and I recommend it to everyone.
