I am using Imis 15.1.1 .
I am reading the 15.1.1 Production Release Content Management documentation.
I am following the instructions on page 64. It states "If you prefer to host a WCM website at the level of an IIS web site instead of at the level of an IIS application, it is possible to do this by using a process that is very similar to that described in the preceding section. This technique enables you to create an even shorter URL for a WCM website, such as http://www.myorgusa.org/ instead of http://www.myorg.org/usa/"
The above instructions implies that you can have a WCM website at the root of the website, but I don't see how this is possible because the NET folder has to be at the root.
Can anyone confirm that the instructions are wrong by stating that it is possible to have a url like http://www.myorgusa.org point to a WCM website. I believe the url would have to be http://www.myorgusa.org/(somesubdirectory).
Yes it is possible
I have set up a WCM site for a client at the root of the site. The instructions you refer to talk about making a copy of the Net folder and pointing the website at that folder. As a point of reference, Default.aspx and 404.aspx would both live at the root of the website.
There's one glitch in the documentation which may trip you up. When you give it the location of the Content folder, the example suggests that you need to create an extra level of subdirectory. When I did it as it shows in the docs, the nav wouldn't point to the same folder as the publish location. Leaving off the folder above Content fixed it. I've SMR'd it, so hopefully it will be in a patch soon.
