iMIS Analytics Training Objectives

Below is the Course Objectives based on a fresh look at the iMIS Analytics tech support issues.

The class will cover:

 Analytics concepts: data cubes, data marts, and OLAPs
 Architecture of iMIS Analytics installation
 Meeting System Requirements
 Installing iMIS Analytics
 Initial loading of iMIS data into the warehouse
 Securing iMIS Analytics
 Examining pre-defined views in the iMIS Analytics Briefing Book
 Including User Defined data as attributes in customer dimensions
 Configuring iMIS Analytics to track custom iMIS demographics

Lots of good information at Innovations. This should be incorporated into the book, if it hasn't been already. I will take a look at that next week.

pro clarity

I know we don't support/train it, but is it owrth thinking about at least some aspects of installing and using pro clarity in this environment?

It's funny when demonstrating analytics, you're demonstrating pro clarity and that's what people are seeing and expecting.

Including Pro-Clarity in Training?

mroques@advsol.com

Jay, this is an excellent point. While we cannot train on ProClarity, we could point them to the documentation available to them. Do you know of any issues with installing this product with iMIS? Perhaps we could mention of those as well.

It works!

No, it works as designed and no issues i know of. There are probably 2 tricks i;ve learned in playing with the product, there are some of things i'm talking about i guess.

proclarity

We should certainly train them on how to install it. It's in the manual, anyways.

There are many opportunities to learn about using ProClarity - from ProClarity. If we become resellers, then we make commissions on such services that are sold.

Pro-Clarity

We should be focused on teaching our users how to use the Analytics Briefing Book that is shipped with Pro-Clarity and not teaching them how to use Pro-Clarity.

I don't know whether you can

I don't know whether you can do one without the other.

In talking with Steve just now, I think one of the biggest issues with Analytics is that you need a business intelligence background to be succesful. Perhaps we need to find a general BI overview course, not specific to any product, and make that a sort of pre-requisite.

It's clear to me that the people that have had success in demonstrating/selling/implementing/consulting Analytics are those that have had some experience with BI in the past.

I will post some tips around what I have learned with proclarity in the forum over the next day or so.

The careful balance of teaching non-supported information

I like your initial thought here, Monique. My initial read of this is that it stictly goes by the "Installing iMIS Analytics" book.

As it has become really clear through this site, many critical points of education come outside of the rubrick of what is in our documentation. I understand that this puts you in a precarious position.

Can ASI teach content that is generated using non-supported resources?

I hope the answer is, "yes", but then again, if so - we need to treat the situation very carefully.

I'd be interested in hearing other's perspectives.

I agree, i think the outline

I agree, i think the outline is really good.

In relation to teaching something non-supported; I guess you build a reference document that maybe becomes an appendix? That way it can still be 'disclaimed' if need be.
