Changing Default Country

iMIS Analytics is shipped with the USA set as the default country for any address with a blank country field. The default country is set in the DWSCountryRef table in the Alias field containing a ‘,’.

To change the default country, update the following on the DWSCountryRef table through a SQL browser:

1) Update the record for US and remove the comma field from the Alias Field. The field will be changed from

Rebuilding the data warehouse from scratch

From time to time there can be a need to rebuild the analytics data warehouse from scratch. The most common need would be when you need to make a configuration change that fundamentally affects the way the existing data has been built. For example, change in the default country code, changing the data warehouse sales history to but based on financial data versus Activity, etc.

Implementation Toolbox

Executive Summary

The implementation toolbox provides a set of tools to make implementing iMIS faster and more reliable. It consists of a series of processes to support the following:
• Initial installation of iMIS and upgrades of iMIS through a centralised process controlled through Active Directory.
• Support for additional files, add-ons, Xtenders, utilities and components to be added to the iMIS folder and installed on the client together with iMIS without separate client installs. For example the easy install of UK Crystal Reports onto each client.

Changing Fiscal Year in Analytics

iMIS analytics is shipped with the fiscal year set to the calendar year by default. This would be the same as having 0 or 1 in the AR/Cash setup for fiscal year.

To change the fiscal year for the transaction data for Analytics, the parameter just needs to be changed.

1) With the ‘Analytics Configuration’, set “ETL.FiscalYearBegins” to the first month of the fiscal year (1 to 12) and save. See Changing Analytics Configuration Options for instructions.

Updating Analytics Extract Scripts

iMIS Analytics is made up of a number of components. One of those components is the collection of "mappings" that give the instruction for the ETL operations (Extract, Transform, and Load) form source databases to the iMIS data warehouse. There are sever components to the mappings, but the component of interest in this article is the "extract script". Extract scripts are SQL based processes that perform the "E" in ETL.

Changing Analytics Configuration Options

From time to time you may be instructed to change an analytics configuration option. This article addresses how to make the changes.

Steps to update an analytics configuration option.

  1. Be sure you have a current backup of your data warehouse database.
  2. Open the Analytics Configuration tool from the start menu.
  3. Find the option you would like to change and change it. Note: boolean values are usually designated as 1 or 0 (zero).

Instructing analytics to use financial transactions as the basis for sales history

As shipped and by default, iMIS Analytics uses the Activity table for the source for sales history. However analytics supports using financial transactions (Trans) as an alternative source. ASI now recommends Trans as the preferred source for a number of reasons, but overall we feel that Trans based sales history is going to drive better and more timely information for all customers we are aware of.

Analytics Training Curriculum

Analytics Training

Introductory training would cover data cube and analytics concepts and provide a high-level exposure to examining data in a pre-defined data cube using ProClarity.

Advanced training would teach how to install and configure iMIS Analytics, how to extract data from the data warehouse, how to use the Briefing Book, ad hoc queries, and how to put user defined data into data cubes (iMIS Customizer).
