SQL Express now supports Reporting Services

Getting the Business Intelligence Studio to show up

On August 3rd, 2009 Neil says:

I was successful in getting the Business Intelligence Development Studio up and running on one of my servers. It's using SQL Server 2005 Express and by using Visual Studio and the Business Intelligence templates, I could create a project and report. No problem.

I thought I did exactly the same thing on another server. It was already running SQL Server 2005 Express and I downloaded and installed the Toolkit which is supposed to provide the Business Intelligence Development Studio. After the install, it does not show up. I ran the install of the Toolkit again and got the message that the components could not be installed as they were already installed.

I can see that the Reporting Services are running but still unable to access Business Intelligence Development Studio or the templates for creating a Report project.

Anyone run across this before and have a resolution.
